The magic of film.

At Design we’d be the first to agree. Of course, we’re passionate about music. But more than this, we’re fascinated by the integral role music plays in audio-visual communications. It’s this passion, coupled with an unusually large music collection, that’s helped us create memorable sound experiences for the AV projects we’ve completed.

Below are some great music resources and some Design favourites. We update our selections below on a regular basis.

Applemusic.com
This is the future of music. It's online! Buy what you want when you want. Currently only available to Apple Macintosh users, but will be available to Windows users by the end of the year. This is going to be big.

Baby Mammoth
A two man outfit from Hull in the UK. Seven fantastic albums to date, BM is a great favourite at Design - not a day goes by without at least one track being played.

Jose Padilla
Founder of the seminal Cafe del Mar series. Jose has started producing work under his own name, he re-defined what a compilation could be.

Jan Garbarek
At times a bit weird but always entertaining. Fantastic body of work with well over 30 albums. Has collaborated with some of the best Jazz artists in the world.

Dimitri Shostakovich
Dimitri Shostakovich, Russian composer and all round modern musical genius. You can't listen to his music without hearing bits that remind you of modern film scores. That's because everyone has borrowed from him.

Vangelis
Official composer to the Olympic movement and NASA. Not bad for a bloke from Greece! Simply fantastic music, the soundtracks he has written have added to the success of their associated films. Without a doubt an inspirational artist.

Yann Tiersen
Now famous for producing the fantastic soundtrack for Jean Pierre Junet's film “Amelie”. Tiersen is as French as it gets, his music is simple and melodic, but always with a French twist.
